This site edited by John Tapley, who is based in Shrewsbury in Shropshire. He's not a local boy, in fact he harks back to the dodgy area of Peckham in SE London and speaks fluent cockney. He's been riding bikes since God was a boy and still can't pull a decent wheelie. Despite this he survived 17 years of commuting into Central London without a scratch. These days, Greg tends to manage the forum, whilst John applies sticky plaster and string to the main site. You can contact him at john@sv650.org

In 2004, John invited Greg Wallis (Jonboy) to help him out with the running of the site.

Currently based near Cambridge, Greg Wallis another Londoner by birth, attempts to oversee the day-to-day running of the SV650.org forum either as "Admin2" the serious side of his online persona meting out justice to one and all, or as a major contributor in the form of "jonboy" scourge and wit of many daily posts. While honestly not joined at the hip to SV650.org (though it often feels that way), he does attempt to run his own web design and development business from within his cellar, only venturing forth during occasional daylight hours to run the gauntlet on the A507, his local private testing ground.

Time for a change
As many of you will know, for sometime now I have been able to devote less and less time to the up keep of this web. Part of the attraction of the site is the timely updates and the 'personal' nature of the postings. Letting the standard, we've all come to expect, decline is not something I want to do so I have had to make some choices.

From the start of September I will be handing the running of the site over to my good friend John who I know will make a great job of keeping the website going (in his spare time!). I will step back and help out John for a week or two, after that time I will have no responsibility for the web. John is an experienced biker and currently owns an SV. I've mentioned him often in these pages after we've been on ride-out's together. As well as having ridden bikes since before I was born (well....almost!)  John is much more mechanically knowledgeable than myself and he's a keen computer buff as well...what more could I ask for!

I guess you're wondering what's made me give up the site that I've grown since I started it back in late 1998? Well.....

In the quest for a larger bike with more cc's and better pillion carrying ability I've sold my SV and bought a VFR800i (the combination of selling and purchase price were too good to resist!). I also wanted a fully faired bike that could more easily accommodate my 6` 1" frame on long runs. The result of this is that not having an SV will take the edge off my ability to run the site with the commitment it needs. Couple that with hardly any spare time to up keep the web and I feel its right that I now bow out gracefully.

I notice the web counter went over half a million at the weekend!! Whilst the counter shows a value the real number of hits to all the SV pages on the website, including the Forum area, runs into the millions.

In the next few weeks I will change emailing addresses and other references to myself so that John can take over the reins. I hope that you will fully support John as you have supported me over the years. I will miss the SV very much. It's a cracking little bike that in over 17,000 miles of riding in all weather never let me down once. We all know about its bad points (every bike has them) but there are many many more good points and I will still recommend SV's to anyone who needs a value for money bike. There isn't another bike around that can pack more punches for the money!

Name : Kevin

Location : Oswestry, a small market town (livestock) on the English / Welsh border of Shropshire, UK.

Riding Experience : I've been riding only since November 1997 and have previously owned a Honda CB500S, commuting all year  round. I was never into bikes in my younger days, didn't realised what I was missing.

Why start the SV page? : I originally created this site it because I was wanting to find information on Suzuki's new SV offering but could only find a few official Suzuki pages that displayed the same information slightly reworded each time. Maintenance of the pages is done in my spare time.

The site has grown much more than I imagined - thanks to all the visitors.

Sadly Kevin was killed in a tragic accident on the 15th April 2003. I leave this page as it as a mark of respect and to remind people that this was all Kev's brainchild, not mine. John Tapley
